The innovation does not only intend to establish the communication model for emergency situations.
The innovative satellite communication of the iPhone 14 may be coming to Android devices. Qualcomm last week announced Snapdragon Satellite, a two-way satellite messaging service.
The development of the component was due to the partnership with the company Iridium, which owns a constellation of low-altitude satellites. Apple, in turn, turns to its main competitor, Globalstar.
Qualcomm specifies that the Snapdragon Satellite will not be strictly for emergency situations, but also for SMS and other messaging applications, for “recreational use in remote or rural areas”. This component will be part of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and could be part not only of smartphones, but also of computers, cars or IoT equipment.
