The new functionality is already known among Samsung Galaxy users.
The new repair mode will allow you to reset the equipment to factory defaults before sending the cell phone for repair. This way, it ensures that no data or files are lost, canceling all access blocks so that the repair technician can access any tool on the smartphone and verify the success of the intervention.
Based on a Twitter source, Google wants to extend this Android solution to all manufacturers, being integrated into the operating system. The user only has to activate it before sending the equipment for repair, and deactivate it when the equipment is returned. Whenever this is active, the cell phone will display a new operating system format with a new account without data, that is, all personal data will be blocked, as if it were not there.
With this mode active it will also be possible to test software updates, such as a new generic Android image, running it in guest mode, without replacing the current one.
Google Repair mode could arrive soon, in an update to Android 14.
