Apple claims to be making it easier to repair the iPhone

The apple brand says that, theoretically, the repair costs of one of its smartphones have reduced significantly.

Apple assumes that the iPhone has become easier to repair. The statements were made by Richard Dinh, Apple's senior director for the iPhone, in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, quoted by Apple Insider.

The director spoke of an evolution in repairing iPhones over the years, referring to how most models required the removal of the screen before reaching the components to be repaired, especially those closest to the back cover:

"Since the iPhone 5, we've used a single bay design (...) Then, since the iPhone 8, with the introduction of wireless charging, we've added the glass back, which has been permanently affixed to the aluminum case. This means that any repairs to these internal components must be done by first removing the display, and potentially any other parts, to access the internal components, especially those located near the rear window."

Now, with the iPhone 14, the rep claims the process has become simpler. The smartphone has a central aluminum structure that contains the logic board and other components separated from both the display and the back cover. This means that, in order to carry out a repair, the technician can open the equipment from either side.

This mechanism allows, in theory, to reduce repair costs. In addition, the reduction of copper alloys made it possible to reduce the weight of the equipment by almost 40 grams.
