Apple's new operating system, iOS 26, will gradually roll out to iPhones starting September 19th. This new software update brings several new features, including the new Liquid Glass design, which is characterized by its dynamic and fluid feel. This new system ensures improved notification content when the main screen is locked.
iOS 26 and Changes to Apps
The Camera app will get a new design with iOS 26. Apple's vision is to implement an intuitive approach that aims to facilitate access to all features, helping you capture the best photos. These changes also extend to the Gallery app, which aims to improve the organization of photos and videos.
In the Phone app, the new features extend beyond the interface, as you now have the help of Apple Intelligence to summarize calls. There's also room for improved features to block spam calls and those that put you on hold. But there's more news, and one of them is the ability to schedule missed call alerts. This reminder aims to help iPhone users who haven't responded to one or several missed calls.
Still on the AI front, there are new options to get creative with emojis and images in contacts. Real-time translation will be a reality and will also be applied to calls. Safari, FaceTime, Apple Music, Maps, and Wallet and Pay are apps that will also be updated with several new features. Gamers aren't left out, as Apple will debut a new app focused on gaming.
Which iPhones are compatible with iOS 26?
All iPhones released from 2019 onwards can be updated with iOS 26, ranging from the iPhone SE (2nd generation or newer), but also the iPhone 11, 12 up to the latest models such as the iPhone 15 or iPhone 16, 16e or iPhone 16 Pro Max.
How to install iOS 26?
To check if this update is available on your device, go to Settings, select General, then Software Update. The system will list the latest version and whether iOS 26 is available. If not, check back later because, as we mentioned, this software update will be more gradual.
