Know the most common Face ID malfunctions

Be on the lookout for signs and glitches in Face ID. You may be on the verge of a malfunction.

Face ID is an Apple technology that has become the security standard on iPhones and iPads, through a set of facial recognition components housed in the screen notch. It is used to perform tasks as simple and recurring as unlocking the screen.

In this sense, a failure in Face ID would be quite inopportune in the dynamics of use of this equipment.

Problems with Face ID and facial recognition systems on Android devices are mostly caused by falls, knocks especially in the earpiece area, or liquid damage (including moisture), and they manifest themselves in several ways.

Errors with the TrueDepth camera are the main malfunction. The camera responsible for detecting and mapping the subject's face in the inner camera is exposed to malfunctions. This may not be working or creating some kind of conflict, which results in Face ID configuration errors.

Another situation may be related to an error in the assembly of the equipment at the factory, namely in Face ID Flex, an electronic component inherent to Apple's facial recognition system. In some assembly processes, this component can suffer pressure from its bending, which ends up wearing out more easily over time.

Another mistake (not so much a malfunction) is Face ID not working at all. Although the solution seems obvious, the truth is that many users who are not familiar with Apple equipment end up skipping a few steps in the iPhone or iPad boot process, namely the Face ID configuration. Make sure in Settings that you have started the process of registering your face in the facial recognition system.

While waiting for an opportunity to be repaired, we advise you to continue to lock your mobile phone using a lock code or, in the case of Android devices, using a fingerprint, numerical code or pattern; as a matter of security and privacy.
