Have you ever wondered what it really means when it is said that a cell phone is waterproof? How can we know how waterproof it really is?
Okay, we make it clear: there are different scales that determine the mobile phone's resistance to water, and we can check this on the equipment. The mobile phone must have an international assessment code that indicates the degree of protection of the electrical system of the equipment. It is usually in the IP code and is usually IP68 or IP67.
The first number represents the degree of protection against dust (scale from 0 to 6). The second number represents the degree of protection against moisture (scale from 0 to 8). When the IP has an X in place of the first or second number, it means that it has not been tested against either dust or moisture.
For example, the iPhone 8 and 8Plus have an IP67 rating, which means they have full protection against dust and can be submerged in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
Its competitor Samsung Galaxy S8 has an IP68, which means it can be submerged in water up to 1.50 meters for 30 minutes.
And remember, "water resistant" does not mean the same as "waterproof".
