WatchOS 9 Update Brings Low Power Mode to Apple Watch

The novelty can bring benefits in terms of the autonomy of smartwatches.

The new version of WatchOS 9, the latest operating system for Apple Watch, will bring devices to a low-power mode, similar to the iPhone. The new usage mode will allow the watch's resources to be saved in order to increase battery life.

When reaching 10% battery, Apple Watch will issue a warning, with the option to activate the new low-power mode. Among the various features turned off, Apple underlines the Always-On Display, exercise notifications, heart rate or automatic measurements. In terms of connectivity, cellular (in compatible countries) and Wi-Fi connections are turned off if the Apple Watch does not detect any iPhones nearby. If the iPhone is nearby, only hourly call and message notifications will be shown.

Other features that will be minimized to save battery are on-screen animations, and background app and Siri updates.
